Inspire And Prepare
Our Mission
Inspire and Prepare is a nonprofit that mentors Alabama students while providing them access and information to learning resources and higher education. Inspiring and preparing them for the future.
Inspire and Prepare works with nonprofits, schools, trade schools, school systems, community colleges, colleges, universities, and other organizations by creating unique programs and services tailored to meet the needs of the community being served. Students will participate starting at grade 6 and continue through grade 12.
Services may include speakers, mentoring, networking, educational counseling, tutoring, and tours to facilities of higher learning (trade schools, community colleges, colleges, and universities, etc.). Inspire and Prepare shall connect students with nonprofits and organizations that may bring benefit to their future success.
Every community in the state of Alabama has schools and students that can benefit from programs and services provided by Inspire and Prepare. Our programs and services provide structure and direction to students as well as aid in academic motivation.
Grade 6 is our desired developmental stage to engage children in a conversation regarding personal development. Studies show that there are discrepancies in students’ academic achievement and emotional development during transition years, i.e., grade 5 (the end of elementary school) to grade 6 (the beginning of middle school). Parents are less involved in middle school than elementary school because parents view middle school students as being more self-sufficient. Middle school daily routines are designed to present students with expectations of more self-sufficiency and personal responsibility. We will help bridge the gap created by waning parental involvement and the ushered insistence of personal responsibility expected of students in grade 6.
As students reach their next period of transition after completing grade 8 (the end of middle school), the expectation of personal responsibility of grade 9 (the beginning of high school) is even greater. Students having already received information through academic counseling, mentoring, and other resources provided by Inspire and Prepare will be encouraged, through continued mentoring, to broaden their interest by exploring and participating in community and extracurricular activities. Inspire and Prepare will provide services for students at this developmental stage with elevated objectives of student career possibilities.
